On a recent visit to Seoul, Korea, MU Chancellor Brady Deaton led a delegation of MU officials to renew MU ties with key South Korean universities during the seventh Harry S. Truman Conference. While on the trip, Deaton signed an agreement with Gyeongsang National University to develop MU's first joint doctorate program in Plant Sciences. MU athletics hosts scores of international student athletes
International student athletes make up a sizable portion of MU's world-renowned Division One athletics department, but the extent of their representation is sometimes overlooked. IPFD's Irene Arholekas visits with MU international scholar-athletes and finds their participation thrives in virtually every sport, further proving that the motto, "play hard, study hard" is a sentiment shared around the world. Message from the Vice Provost Announcements 3rd Annual International Conference on Information Communication Technologies in Health (ICICTH) The Department of Health Management and Informatics, School of Medicine, at MU together with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuernberg, Germany and the UMIT-University for Health Sciences, Tyrol, Austria will host the 3rd ICICTH, which will be held July 7-9, 2005 on the island of Samos in Greece. For additional information, please visit: UM South African Education Program Invites Proposals The University of Missouri South African Education Program (UMSAEP) committee invites proposals for the following programs: 1) The University of Missouri/University of the Western Cape Linkage Program; and 2) The South African Partnerships program. For more information, visit: MU students selected to study in India and Tunisia Congratulations to the four MU students selected to participate in the study abroad summer seminars in India and Tunisia, sponsored by the US Dept. of State to provide undergraduates with opportunities for studying Middle Eastern cultures and languages. Christy Ciolli, Jonathon Coulson, and Maria Howell will join eight other students from US land grant universities on the American Institute on Indian Studies Summer Workshop on Indian Culture from July 1-21, 2005. Travis Rice will travel to Tunisia with fourteen other American undergraduates from June 12-July 1 on the "Tunisia Past & Present" seminar organized by the Center for Maghrib Studies in Tunis (CEMAT). Students were selected on the basis of their academic record and their commitment to the goals of the program. There were only 24 slots available nationally, and MU students occupy 4 of them.
